the hollow
today is election day back home and it's all the little one and i have on our minds besides attempting to recall what we do each day. she has been having a fantastic time since arrival and it makes me very glad. i am very thankful to be able to experience this wonderful land rich with history and ancient artifacts in common farm land. vilmo, our host, finally went over his plans for a little museum he wants to create with us. although it will take some years for him to finish this project, i trust his ambition to be great and to go through in the end. i hope i get an invite when it opens as i would love to see the final product. halloween this year, i have to say, was the strangest one ever. one of the other wwoofers was still here, it was her last day, and she was mostly known for her ramblings concerning her love for dancing tango. so what did our host do? he asked if we wished to accompany him to a dance club which played various musaks in different rooms. that day of hollows we also went to monticchiello for internets and to offer a little prayer for Obama at the local romanesque church....a very nice, dark and simple church. as young single women, we dolled ourselves up a bit and did our best tryin to look presentable with the ragged clothes we brought. to be clear, our host has become like our adoptive italian father and we had some expectations i guess. when we got there...boy were we surprised. let's just say that our reactions were that of a parent in a modern rave club full of youngins. i don't think i can describe it all to be honest. but it was like being in a semi retirement place with your parents' friends and even grandparents and their friends dancing to the most random playlist ever...even music we would normally dance to, on the dance floor. it was the most awkward thing ever and we laughed our asses off.
i have been reflecting a lot recently on many things. even though i am in one of the most gorgeous places in the world. i realized 2 days ago that i felt something missing and i missed it very much. this hollow of mine needs Paris. i really miss it and i'm not sure it's even one thing specifically. i miss whatever it gave me.
i find myself recalling certain moments whenever something reminds me of it. i miss it so much that it actually hurts =(
anyway, i will be uploading little batches of new pics here http://s442.photobucket.com/albums/qq146/julieta8884/
so check em out when bored. ciao.
edit: huge relief today hearing that fellow americans made a better decision this time around, election wise. i'd like to express that i'm quite proud of my sis and her bf and our friends in DC who took charge and did what they could to get people informed about things that matter these days in order to grasp whatever last bit of hope we have. being in a foreign country this past month has been pretty damn interesting, to say the least. i had expected to get crap from the french for being american. but it never happened. instead, i get some crap from the elder italians i encounter. then i have to explain myself as best i can. it's been funny actually but it always turns out into a neat conversation. oh and i forgot to mention that some days ago the little one and i were surprised with home made tiramisu. it was like...heaven. best. thing. ever.....ok, no, 2nd. new olive oil tasting is also pretty great, but not as superb.
