pre-harvest briefing

it's only been about 2 weeks now since i arrived here to domaine carret and i feel overwhelmed with things i'd like to share with everyone and anyone. this wwoofing thing is turning out to be the most fascinating experience in my life so far. it may come as no surprise to you all, but i really hate people. BUUUT lately i've been adjusting to meeting numerous new people every other day while remaining good friends with others that have managed to get through my wall. needless to say, they are awesome and interesting. we're all very different but silently agree with eachother due to our 1 or 2 common traits. the most important one, it seems, would be that we're all secretly trying to escape whatever world(s) we come from. if i had to compare this experience with anything, i'd say it's very much like those big brother type shows. seriously. as always, i feel like just sitting in the corner taking notes while observing my house mates interact.
our little posse has gone to wander around Lyon the past few weekends. it's very touristy yet beautiful and old and the food is finger licking good. ...not literally though because it's such a bogany peesant-ish thing to do. yesterday, we were lucky to catch an opera performance at the small roman theatre ruins for free. the music was medieval-ish, the singing quite good but what really stole my attention was this hot cello player. talk about petrifying eye candy, mmm mmm mmm.
tomorrow we start the grape harvest and today we've been intorduced to around 3 out of 6 new people this weekend. i feel bad being a bitch but sometimes people deserve it. there's this guy here who has managed to piss everyone off individually. even one of my favorite people here, a peaceful japanese guy.this entire past week has been like waves. we had to say good bye to this great chick from colorado, adjusted to 2 new very opposite people, interact with high class NYorkers who didnt pack any proper farming type clothes, hiked all around the hills nearby and drank more than ever. one thing i find odd is my lack of home sickness. not to sound ungrateful but i really haven't felt the need for a familiar presence or place. perhaps it's because i know i'll return to things eventually and they will be there for me whenenever. i had expected to use my ipod a lot as well. as i was telling the new guy from London today, it's been liberating and far more pleasant living life by slowly becoming disconnected to technology. hence my non-daily briefings here even though there isn't a day i don't think about sharing certain things with people back home =P to be honest, these people i have met make me feel normal in every way. it's very very nice. still can't believe it's only the beginning.
...oh and greetings! to the super nice and friendly employees at my Wellsfargo back home. thanks for helping me out with money matters, didn't think you'd actually look this thing up, hehe =P haven't tried the couch surfing thing yet but i've heard it's another great invention. we'll see...

really cool. When you're out in the world having an adventure its easy to get lost in the moment. It tends to be the people left behind who do the missing.

goodness, i think i want to be a an organic farm slave now. But, i have obligations at home and gotta help mommy out.

i'm happy your escape is proving to be a blast.
